ICHG Advocacy
The advocacy work of ICHG aims to raise awareness and support action to address issues affecting child health globally and in the UK.
It is the duty of all health practitioners and policy makers to prevent as well as manage disease.
Child health and wellbeing are largely shaped by the social, economic and political determinants and services available to the child and the community that surround them.
As a potentially vulnerable group in society, children require others to support their voice or advocate on their behalf.
Our aims:
To support giving voice to the concerns of children and adolescents.
To protect and promote their health and wellbeing.
To educate and share reliable knowledge among actors in the child health community and support institutional change.
ICHG Advocacy values
Our work is both proactive and reactive.
Proactive - we build advocacy capacity within the global child health community through developing and sharing resources, broadening our membership and building connections with ally groups.
Reactive - Responding to emerging issues with a protected capacity space.
We work in “Gap Focused” advocacy to raise awareness in spaces and issue of significance where there is need and where ICHG can add tangible value.
We are developing a children’s priority focus to work on issues highlighted by children and young people as important to them.
In collaboration with CHIFA we actively support the vision of a world where every child, every parent and every health worker has access to the reliable healthcare information they need to protect their own health and the health of children for whom they are responsible.
